Ya tenemos el resultado de la analítica sanguínea de Bombe y hay buenas noticias, todos los parámetros analizados se encuentran dentro de la normalidad. La GGT que compruebas un poquito elevada no es relevante si es la única elevada del panel de valores, su importancia diagnóstica radica  en la asociación con otras enzimas de origen hepático, que en este caso, está normales. La GGT es una enzima presenta en varios tejidos, no es exclusiva del hígado.

Esperaremos a los resultados de la citología y recomiendo mantener la dieta para cuidar la función renal. Un saludo.

Buenos días Jan,

Las proyecciones radiológicas necesarias para valorar el cuello de un animal son: la ventrodorsal y latero-lateral , que son las que hemos realizado a Bombe.

Tu confusión viene porque es una imagen de espejo, como si tu miras una fotografía de un retrato de frente, su lado izquierdo es tu lado derecho. Igual pasa en la radiografía de Bombe. Es fácil cuando estas habituado a interpretarlas, como los médicos y veterinarios.

Estate tranquila que en cuanto tengamos el resultado de la citología podremos contarte algo más. De verdad que haremos todo lo posible por diagnosticar y curar a Bombe, no te preocupes.

Dear xxx:

Bombe needs a dietetic pet food formulated by vets. This formula is for cats with kidney disease because it is a specific diet: is low in phosophorus and sodium with a restricted level of protein (low molecular weight protein) but on high biological value. Also, it has a high level of essential fats acids (omega 3 y 6) and  proper ratio of K(potassium): Na (sodium). All this to ensure a right renal function and to prevent any other damage to the kidney. This food covers all the nutritionals needs of adults cats an contributes to their heatlh. For more information about Specific and their products visit : http://www.dechra.co.uk/Topmenu/Specific-Diet-and-Nutrition.aspx. The feed advice is two cans per day. One for breakfast and one for dinner.

With this, all nutritional needs will be covered, but  if you want to give homemade food you can prepare:

-        Fish (Hake, tuna, swordfish) (about 75 grs/per day)

-        Ham, chicken breast and turkey (about 25 grs/per day)

-        Rice and boiled carrots

-        Without any salt or other kind of spices.

This is more complicated not only because of the time it takes to prepare but also cause the quantity is less accurate when we compare with dietetic pet food, and cats can be a little special, they usually don’t like all kind of tastes or smells. But you can try and see how she will react.

I hope I have clarified all your doubts and with that we can find the best way to take care of  Bombe. If you decide for the dietetic food, it will be  here center ready for you.

In the ultrasound we can see the morphology of the kidney is damaged, but the labs show no kidney disease at the moment.

Normally when the kidney morphology is damaged, it finally results in disease, that’s why as preventive method we recommend to start with the specific diet, to try to prevent the disease.

The lab didn’t send us the cytology results yet. In the moment that we have it we will send it to you for sure. But the lab result is about the mass, not the kidney. The kidney problem you should start treating immediately for the good health of Bombe, the longer we wait the worse the kidney will be.

Le escribo desde el hospital veterinario de Castellana. El oncólogo ha estado mirando las pruebas de Bombe, y lo correcto sería, antes de realizar más pruebas, revisar el diagnostico, puesto que no hay descrito un linfoma tiroideo.

Habrá que verificar si puede haber una confusión con una enfermedad autoinmune, o que se trate de otro tipo de tumor, y para ello lo primero sería repetir la citología del nódulo.

Una vez que tengamos el resultado, si se confirmara que se trata de un tumor, le concertáramos una cita con el especialista.

We have determined that Bombe’s lump on her neck at the level of the thyroid, is a malignant lymphoma. Surgery is not recommended  because it is very possible that there is systemic dissemination, being in the lymphatic system. It would be helpful to perform a CT (computerized tomography) type test, to determine the size and location of the tumor as well as the structures that are involved. It would cost about 360 € for this test and we refer our clients to the Sierra de Madrid hospital, located in  San Agustin de Guadalix.

The best option is a chemotherapy treatment. There are different medications on the market for these cases, As Genoxal, which is treatment pills that can administered at home, and vincristine, which is an intravenous treatment, and should be administered by a veterinarian. Side effects of these treatments are many, as in humans, possible anorexia, vomiting, kidney and liver failure, neurological symptoms, leukopenia, ...

There are other drugs with fewer side effects like Palladia, but has not been tested in cats, and in this type of tumor.

Estimada XXX,

EL diagnóstico al que hemos llegado respecto a la masa en el cuello en la región tiroidea de Bombe  es un linfoma maligno. No está indicada la extirpación quirúrgica de este tipo de tumores porque es muy posible que exista una diseminación sistémica del mismo a nivel del sistema linfático. Convendría realizar un TAC (Tomografía Axia Computerizada l) para determinar el tamaño y la localización exacta del tumor así como de las estructuras que puedan estar involucradas en el mismo. Su coste sería de aproximadamente 360€ y nosotros derivamos a nuestros pacientes al Hospital Sierra de Madrid, localizado en  Guadalix de la Sierra.

En nuestra opinión la mejor opción en el caso de Bombe sería un tratamiento de quimioterapia. Existen distintos protocolos para estos casos como por ejemplo Genoxal, se trata de un tratamiento en comprimidos que se puede administrar el casa, y Vincristina, en este caso el tratamiento es intravenoso y debe ser administrado por un veterinario. Este tipo de tratamiento tiene muchos efectos secundarios, como en humanos, posible anorexia, vómitos, fallo renal y hepático, síntomas neurológicos, leucopenia…

Existen otros fármacos con menos efectos secundarios como Palladia, pero no se ha probado en gatos ni con este tipo de tumor.

Sentimos el retraso, ahora mismo tenemos mucho trabajo.
